About the "Explorers"
The Ontario Underwater Explorers scuba club (OUE) has a long history of fun and safety in scuba diving. We aim to maintain this tradition into the future.
Our Club was formed in 1965 as a result of scuba diving enthusiasts who primarily were employees of the McDonnell Douglas company. The group felt it was time for their informal group to become a formal Club. The lore is that the name 'Ontario Underwater Explorers' won by a slight margin over 'The Horney Toads Scuba Club'.
New Members Welcome
Membership has its privileges. Ontario Underwater Explorers have access to the Etobicoke Olympium pool, which boasts a deep end of 5 meters (16 ft.) We use the pool to keep in shape by swimming, snorkeling, trying out new gear and maintaining skills. We also use the pool for training courses.
Where Diving Never Stops
Our Club is an active one; with year-round diving via our Once-A-Month Club, our full Summer Dive charters, pick-up dives, and sometimes out of province and out of country trips.
We meet weekly at the Etobicoke Olympium (West end of Toronto) in the Olympic pool. After the pool, the social continues at a local establishment, where weekend diving and trips are discussed.
